• 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion
  • 1 piece of white bread or 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • Spices of your choosing

Big Beef Burgers, what could be better than a giant, juicy, meaty patty wedged between a fresh bun? PROTEEEEEIIIIIN!

Big Beef Burgers

In a large bowl mix your lean ground beef, chopped yellow onion, egg and breadcrumbs together. I used a piece of white bread and I threw it in the blender to make about 1/4 a cup of bread crumbs.

Please for the love of food use your hands to mix your ground beef – and don’t over mix it either. Over mixing it will cause tough burgers and we want juicy, fall apart burgers.

Add in seasoning as you choose. Seasoning salt is always a great choice for burgers. I tend not to use a lot of seasoning in my recipes and Reddit (hi, r/fitmeals & r/budgetfood) likes to yell at me for not using seasoning. It’s not that I don’t like to season things; I just like to A) keep things low sodium and B) keep my recipes down to very few ingredients. People on a budget generally don’t have a pantry  full of spices.

Form some big a** patties.

Grill these bad boys until they are FULLY COOKED! It still disgusts me that it’s legal to serve burgers pink in the United States. Grossssssssss.

These burgers were incredibly juicy and flavourful. Trust me when I say that buying lean ground beef does not sacrifice any flavour (or grease for that matter. I actually dabbed them down with a paper towel because they were quite greasy.)

Top these big beef burgers with cheese, sauteed mushrooms or caramelized onions – or just some good old fashioned ketchup and mustard. The patty is truly the shining star in this recipe – enjoy!
