  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tbsp butter or margarine

I’m excited about this Cheap and Easy Apple Crisp recipe for 2 reasons. First, because of how simple it was to make and how perfect it turned out. Second, because it’s the first recipe I was able to photograph with my brand new Nikon D3100 which I am absolutely in LOVE with.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Start by peeling and coring your 8 apples and slicing them up, this is the most tedious process of the apple crisp making. If you want to simplify you can always look for pre-sliced granny smiths at your grocery store. Keep in mind that the slices don’t need to look pretty or be the same size so don’t stress about that. It all comes together in the end

Grease a baking dish with some butter or margarine and layer in half of your sliced apples. Sprinkle 1 tbsp of cinnamon and 1 tbsp of sugar evenly across your apple slices. Layer on the rest of your apples and spread the remaining sugar and cinnamon on top. Slowly pour in your water.

Throw your flour, brown sugar and oats in a food processor and pulse it together. Or you can do it old school like me and mix it together in a big mixing bowl. It works the same either way! Melt 3 tbsp of butter and pour into your mixture. Top your apples with your crust and bake for 45 minutes!

Serve with vanilla ice cream and this apple crisp could not be any better. It’s the perfect balance between sweet and tart, gooey and crunchy. It’s a dessert sure to impress even the pickiest eaters!  Thank you so much for reading and please don’t forget to share with your friends, like us on Facebook  and follow us on Twitter
